Moreover, hiring managers have noted that they have not hired people based on incriminating social media accounts. What’s this mean? It’s probably not wise for you to have an active Twitter feed devoted to your drinking binges or misspelled Facebook updates brimming with vulgar language.
Furthermore, it’s beneficial to be visible on numerous platforms. Why? Hiring managers are combing LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook to discover their next big star and it’s a lot easier to be found if you’re present on every site.
Have you employed social media as part of your job search? Why or why not?
Condé Nast bringing together bloggers and publishers
Condé Nast unites bloggers and publishers to further bridge the gap in the journalism world. Sponsored by Lucky magazine, which is being featured in print and online, over 50 bloggers will report on fashion, beauty, lifestyle and other topics of entertainment for the magazine. In addition to providing content, they will also double as business partners, constructing a new model for the publication.
With a sturdy plan to fuse both writing worlds, the next stop is figuring out a way for bloggers to earn money for their contributions. This problem could be solved either by making funds through advertisements or paying bloggers as official journalists. The latter might be the solution for Lucky magazine.
If Lucky magazine bloggers are going to be paid as journalists, they will have to do more than provide content, in which case their role as a business partner will be the likely venture for
compensation. This way, they will have more leverage and responsibility with the magazine, and also be given more specific details about content being featured.
How will traditional journalists feel about this? Let’s hope they will be open to the joint efforts. Bringing together content for the consumer is the primary goal and blogs are readily accessible through social media networks. With a variety of ways to locate information via the web through Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, Feedly, etc. and just in itself, the slew of possibilities to log on to the web, including mobile devices, tablets, laptops, computers, etc, including blogs in the round-up of journalism may bring some interesting contributions to magazine publications. And if nothing else, news can expediently be delivered through a reputable source.
So I say, what is everyone else waiting for? Lucky is trailblazing an amazing path and others should quickly follow!
