Lulzsec is Back! Takedown of the The Sun Newspaper and the News International Websites
Lulzsec is back! (This is like taking down Voldemort for my geeky Harry Potter compatriots). But seriously, the hacking group, also referred to in the past as a “cyber terrorism group” by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, made claims of hacking notable organizations such as the CIA website and user accounts for Sony. Now, they have targeted energy towards The Sun newspaper and other news international websites.
Lulzsec stated they hacked The Sun, redirecting users to a fake website asserting News Corps tycoon, Rupert Murdoch, was dead. In addition, it appears Lulzsec gained access to numerous emails of the News Corporation, the head honcho that owns The Sun.
How did Lulzsec hack and take readers on such a cyberspace adventure? A simple javascript redirect was rumored to be the culprit. Sources are still trying to confirm this.
Several news sites are shut down for the moment to avoid future havoc, including NewsInternational.co.uk, NewsInt.co.uk, and TheTimes.co.uk.
What is Lulzsec going to take down next?
