Instadroid
Posted by Jazz Ayers
It’s official ladies and gentlemen. The day thousands, possibly millions of people have been waiting for. Instagram for Android. The app finally went live about 30 minutes ago and already has 2,000+ downloads. With more than 30 million users on the iOS platform, Instagram is sure to nearly double those numbers in the coming months.
What’s different in the Android version verses the iOS version? Absolutely nothing! The application works just like the iOS version so if you’ve been using it on your iPad or iPod touch and you’re converting to your Android based phone-it’ll be smooth sailing. Log in with the same account, follow the same people, double-tap to show some love, and share some Instagood!
As an avid Android phone user myself I no longer feel a need for an iPhone. Some of the main draws to purchase an iPhone are for exclusive, or what used to be exclusive, apps such as Instagram and Temple Run (which also became available for Android exactly a week ago on March 27, 2012), but with them now operating on Android many people, including myself, no longer see the alluring picture. With my Macbook Pro, iPad, and iPod touch-all my Apple bones have been tickled!
What do you all think? Will Instagram for Android become as bag is it’s iOS version and will Android’s growing Google Play store detract potential iPhone customers and users?

Pair: An App for Long Distance Relationships
Posted by Heidi Foner
P air is a new app for the iPhone that allows long distance couples to swap SMS messages, photos, videos and locations. There is a feature called Thumb Kiss that vibrates whenever both parties touch the same spot on the screen. Couples can also create drawings, maintain a joint to do list, and send you thank you messages to each other.
To start using the app, the other person needs to have an iPhone and a request to be your pair on it. You can not create multiple pairs, however it is easy to unpair and re-pair.
According to Kostour, co-founder of Pair included, “If I want to talk to her, I don’t have to tap anywhere else. Just tap one button and I’m talking to her right away.”
One downside is that this app is only available on the iPhone but they are planning to build an android app soon.
It can be hard to schedule phone calls, skype dates and keep up with text messages when both of you have busy schedules. Pair makes it easy for busy long distance couples to stay in touch. This is very important, because you don’t want to loose sight of who you are as a couple.
If you are in a long distance relationship will you be downloading Pair?

Dine With a Stranger with GrubWithUs
Posted by Heidi Foner
GrubWithUs will open up its first mobile app this Wednesday. GrubWithUs is available in seven cities and helps people find people to dine with. In the app it provides a fixed menu and anybody who wants to attend can sign up and pay through the app. You then can just show up without splitting the check. You can also create your own meal where you can specify the location, theme and price point you are looking for.
Co Founder Daishin Sugano says, “You can pull up your reservation on the go. You can also chat with fellow diners, something that is kind of hidden on the website.”
You can also track all your favorite diners and meals. When a user bookmarks a profile the user gets an alert when that person signs up for a meal. You can then meet people similar to you and meet those people at the restaurant. You can actually then dine with them!
Would you check out GrubWithUs? Or do you think you shouldn’t meet strangers on a whim?

The Best Social Media Books
Posted by Heidi Foner
You can find a lot of information on social media through the internet but having a book will help you even more. Having something physical, something to highlight and bookmark is much easier than reading an article online, printing it out and then reading it.
Here are the top 5 social media books:
1) The Now Revolution by Jay Baer Amber Naslund. The two Aurthur’s articulate the power of social media and how it transforms a business or organization into a physical format.
2) Measure What Matters by Kate D. Paine. This book is on measurement in social media. Her book is amazing and writes it in real people language.
3) Launch by Michael Stelzner. This is the story of building Social Media Examiner. It gives advise on building a website, especially a social media website.
4) Hierarchy of Contagiousness by Dan Zarrella. Want to understand what (technically) causes viral? Than check this book out. It is all about the science behind social media. And gives real time stats as well.
5) No Bullshit Social Media by Jason Falls and Erick Deckers. This book is on everything social media and he never leaves anything out. And he tells the truth, basically no bullshit.
So there you have it, the top 5 social media books. What books do you recommend?
