Studybook: An Educational Tablet
Intel came out with a new tablet called the Studybook. It comes with the Intel’s Learning Series software. It also comes with an interactive ereader and LabCam applications. The cover is waterproof, dust proof and comes with shock absorbers. So that means that kids who drop this from their desk is in the safe zone and it will not break. The tablet has a 7 inch screen and runs windows or android system with a 1060X600 Pixel resolution. It runs on the Intel Atom Z650 processor.
Wayne Grant, Director of Research included, “Students today live in a virtual world and this device can give a valid scientific experience for students in emerging economies. Representations of knowledge are changing. Tools are now based in tablet environments.”
Many teachers are now introducing new technologies into the classrooms. And now they are introducing the tablet. It can be quite convenient for the student since they don’t have to carry around a heavy laptop. It also lets them interact with class more with the apps on the tablet.
Do you think that classrooms should introduce the Studybook?
Project Glass by Google+
Source: Google
On Wednesday, Google announced that they would begin testing for Project Glass, the latest addition to the company’s technologic entourage. Project Glass is Google’s venture into wearable computing gear, namely, augmented-reality glasses.
The prototype glasses have a futuristic, lensless frame that perches on top of the nose. Running on the Android mobile platform, the glasses also feature a built-in camera and microphone. The wearer can send and receive messages using voice commands, and the display streams information directly in front of the line of vision. In addition to wireless and GPS capabilities, the glasses also have the ability to send news alerts, project 3-D maps with step by step directions, provide location services and check-in capabilities, take pictures, play music, and video chat, all of which are featured in their preliminary video advertisement, which can be viewed here.
Project Glass could be the next big development in the realm of technological gadgets that facilitate task management in our increasingly fast-paced lives. In fact, the futuristic frames could potentially eliminate the use of mobile devices, freeing up our hands to play with a new tech toy.

Don’t fill out a new prescription just yet – the project is still in its preliminary phases. Google will be hard at work testing out the frames and looking for feedback until the designers finalize a model that is worthy enough to hit the shelves.
One Share.es: Erase Data After Transmission
Imagine when you send personal information to a recipient and when the recipient views it once it automatically erases. Would you like this to happen, especially with very sensitive, personal information? This is now possible with One Share.es.
Jerry Thompson, co-founder and CTO of One Share.es stated, “There’s a lot of trust placed with people with whom we share private information. Over time, this information is collected in people’s inboxes and with the amount of free space offered by Gmail and other services, there’s little reason or incentive to actually delete these emails.”
So how does it work? When you enter the data it is encrypted from your browser to One Share.es servers and stored encrypted. You then get a private URL that holds the content. That URL is sent to the recipient. Once the recipient reviews the information and closes it out it permanently deletes. It can no longer be retrieved or viewed once they close out.
Is this really safe, as really nothing is ever deleted from the computer right? This is true but it is permanently deleted from the recipient’s email. So sending personal information will forever be deleted and never viewed again. The only problem is that the recipient will need to write down the information on a piece of paper or keep the information on their computer if they want to keep the information. This can be a disadvantage.
As a reminder never send your credit card, social security card over the internet, even if a service like this claims to be secure. You never know!

Street Safe: A New Technology to Keep You Safe
Street Safe is a new technology for your phone to keep you safe at night when walking home or practically anywhere. The service combines wireless networks with GPS technologies and a 24/7 monitoring center that offers off live off duty law enforcement officers and security offers to talk to. The best part? The app has a silent alarm. If you need help and you can not call the police or 911 there is a silent alarm to click to immediately dispatch 911 for help.
You can also get a personal safety escort. All you have to do is call street safe and a security officer will stay on the phone with you until you get to your car or your home or wherever. Along the way they will offer safety tips and if the situation becomes dangerous they will call 911 for you immediately.
Women are prone to sexual assaults and harassment when walking home alone in the dark, especially in a city. With Street Safe they can feel a little safer when they are alone.
Would you download Street Safe? And do you think that it would come in handy?
Berg Cloud: Print iPhone Sized Newspapers
Berg Cloud is a new little printer meant for the iPhone and Android phones that lets you allow to print iPhone sized newspapers right from your phone. It can be programmed to print news updates once or twice per day from news publications, social networks, and data collecting apps. Updates appear in the form of paper strips in the width of an iPhone and up to 10 inches long.
Matt Web, CEO of Berg Cloud included, “Connecting products to the Web lets them become smarter and friendlier –- they can sit on a shelf and do a job well, for the whole family or office –- without all the attendant complexities of computers, like updates or having to tell them what to do. Little Printer is more like a family member or a colleague than a tool” (Mashable).
I think this is a genious little idea. Having something to print out can be quite convenient. Sure you have it right on your phone but we all have “accidentally” erased it and don’t know what to do. Now Berg Cloud is off to the rescue. Print out that important meeting schedule, what to take to the grocery store, or other important information. You never know when your phone might fail on you! Also it is just fun to print out little bits of random news information. It might become a little addicting!
It is available for pre-order and will come out next year in 2012.
